A fake random name picker looks like a normal random generator but returns a name you chose in advance. PrankWheel is a free one that runs as a spinning wheel. Pick the "random" result with a hidden long-press or number key, and the spin still looks completely fair.
When you need a “random” pick that isn’t
Sometimes “let’s leave it to chance” is a polite fiction. You already know who should present first, who gets volunteered for karaoke, or which friend deserves the dare. A fake random name picker lets you keep the fun and suspense of a random draw while getting the result you want.
Where people use it
- Group chats: send a rigged link and let everyone spin it themselves. They all land on the same “random” name.
- Live streams: let chat “decide” a challenge or punishment while you quietly press a number key.
- Classrooms and team meetings: pick who goes first in a lighthearted way. (Keep it to low-stakes things.)
- Parties: drinking games, truth-or-dare, who picks the next song.
How to fake a random pick
- Paste your list of names, one per line.
- Choose the “random” name secretly. Use any of these:
- long-press its slice on a phone
- press its number key on a keyboard
- Alt+click its slice or its line in the names box
- Spin. The result is decided and the animation is identical to a fair spin.

Fake picker vs. real random picker
| Feature | Real random picker | Fake random picker |
|---|---|---|
| Result | Chance | Whoever you choose |
| Animation | Spinning wheel | Identical spinning wheel |
| Visible “rigged” setting | — | None (secret panel only) |
| Use for raffles and prizes | Yes | No. Use Fair Mode |
A note on fairness
Fake random pickers are for fun. If the result matters (prizes, money, grades, anything someone could be hurt by), use a genuinely random tool. PrankWheel’s Fair Mode disables every hidden trigger so you can prove the result wasn’t fixed.
